Mission Quest and Registration for Public Solicitation.

Modified on Fri, 17 Aug 2018 at 01:48 PM

Mission Quest and its affiliated missionaries do not engage in a public solicitation as outlined below. The requirement that some States have for Charity "registration" is designed to protect the public from scams and unauthorized public canvassing for funds. Some Charities hire commercial solicitors and fundraising companies to actively canvas the public for donations. Mission Quest does not. These efforts include things like purchasing mailing lists for mass mailings, organized telephone drives using public phone lists, door-to-door appeals, standing on street corners with buckets during Christmas, and other cold-call type methods. Any Charity or ministry engaged in these types of commercial appeals should follow the additional process for Charity registration. However, Mission Quest does NOT engage in those types of public canvassing. An MQ missionary who speaks in churches, receptions, support banquets, or even one-on-one appointments is not canvassing the public, but simply sharing with friends, acquaintances, and people who have voluntarily chosen to attend those Church and ministry functions. This is very different than public solicitation as described above.

Mission Quest requires all its missionaries to communicate to their current and future donors, whether verbally or in written format, that all their future donation will be made to Mission Quest and that Mission Quest must maintain sole control and discretion over the use of the funds once a tax-deductible receipt is issued. All Mission Quest missionaries must include the following statement on all their promotional and fundraising materials.

According to IRS guidelines, all donations are made to Mission Quest. Mission Quest must maintain sole control and discretion over the use of the funds once a tax-deductible receipt is issued. Tax-deductible gifts are non-refundable.
