What should I do if I left my sending church or discontinue my association with it?

Mission Quest heavily relies on the sending church to provide spiritual, personal and financial accountability and guidance to the missionary, that's why we always say that we are not a sending agency, but rather a service agency that stands behind the sending church in mobilizing missionaries.

Mission Quest takes any conflict between a church and its missionary very seriously and always wants to get to the bottom of the conflict for the purpose of reconciling the two parties. If reconciliation were not reached, Mission Quest would evaluate the situation to take one of three courses of action:

1) Discontinue the relationship with the missionary while keeping the partnership with the church. This option applies when Mission Quest determines that the missionary was at fault in the situation and directly defied the church leadership and authority. This defying includes the refusal to submit to the church's authority in the missionary's personal life, ministry and/or doctrinal stances. Also, this includes dishonesty in handling donations received through Mission Quest or any other party.

2) Discontinue the relationship with the church while remaining affiliated with the missionary. Mission Quest tends to take this course of action if reconciliation between the church and its missionary was not reached and the church is clearly at fault. This is also an option if the church changed its stance on essential doctrinal issues that contradicted Mission Quest's statement of faith.

In this option, the missionary needs to get another recommendation letter from their new sending/sponsoring church within two months from the time of discontinuing their relationship with their old sending church. This also applies when the church reaches the point where it can no longer provide its missionary with the level of accountability and leadership it committed to providing when the church first submitted the missionary's recommendation letter.

3) Discontinue our affiliation with both the sending church and the missionary. This is the last and most difficult option. It applies if Mission Quest determines that the missionary and the church are both at fault and there is no place for reconciliation. In this case, Mission Quest will give the missionary a period of 60 calendar days to find another way to process their donations.
